The Brand

THE SHIRÒ BRAND

In 2003, the designer Massimo Calestrini, taking advantage of his family’s decennial experience of working with precious skins, launched the Shirò brand, specialised in men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. The idea was to create the most incredible and exclusive exhibition of luxury bags, accessories and garment in the world because it was very clear to Massimo that the globalized market would allow him to reach worldwide the richest people in the world and to  offer them unique pieces of amazing Italian hand-crafted bags, accessories and clothing.
 
In Shirò philosophy, people since ages are using Crocodile  bags, wallets and luggage because it’s the best way to preserve money, keys and all the personal belongings: we strongly believe that everything will be well preserved in a crocodile bag, as well as in nature the Crocodile strongly keeps everything within its mouth!

The "Shirò" is a rare lizard with two tails which, in the tradition of the ancient African tribes, represents a precious good luck talisman. Legend has is that whoever finds a Shirò will be lucky for the rest of their lives. The choice of the name and logo of the brand are closely linked to Africa where the Calestrini family – since 1852 to the beginning of the ‘70s - were owners of a crocodile breeding ground and various tanning facilities in Eritrea and Europe.

Nowadays, all this know-how is concentrated in the Shirò brand, united with the research and the exclusivity of rare materials – from crocodile to ostrich, from lizard to mink and sable. In the Made in Italy premises of Modena, Florence and Bologna every garment, every accessory is hand made in a limited edition.

In October 2003, Shirò debuted in the Milano Moda Donna calendar with the S/S 2004 collection. The success achieved both from the buyers and press, awarded the brand with an invite to participate in the Alta Roma shows in January 2004, where the label established itself at a national and international level.

In 2006 Shirò, already sold in the top multi-brand boutiques worldwide, opened its flagship shop in Milan, in one of the most ancient and prestigious streets of the city, via Gesù 15. In March 2008 a second single-brand boutique opened in Tokyo,
inside the famous Imperial Hotel.

Since 2010 Shirò has been distributed in Dubai by Levant Group.

In November 2010 Shirò opened a flagship store in Moscow in Vremena Goda, the Fashion and Lifestyle Galleries,
Kutuzovsky Prospekt 48.

Shirò brand is also distributed in the most important stores in South Korea (Trinity Shinsegae, Supernormal and others). 

In September 2014 Shirò opened a second flagship store in Genève at the Kempinski Hotel.
